Georgius J.J. Van Os (1782-1861) was a student of - his father, the famous artist Jan Van Os (1744-1808). He travelled to Paris in 1812 and stayed there from 1826 onwards till his death. In Paris he worked for the Sèvres porcelain factory.
He mainly painted made aquarels of still life objects (flowers & fruit). He was a member of the Royal Academie of Amsterdam. G.J.J. Van Os was the teacher of other still life painters, among them A.J. Brandt, D.J.H. Joosten and Hendrik Peeters.
